The authors reported that NR produced an approximately 2.3-fold larger increase through day 8. They also reported that this difference remained significant after adjusting for molecular weight and aligning the comparison to each precursor’s peak time.

What the brain measurements did—and did not—show

Neither NR nor NMN produced a significant group-level cerebral NAD increase during the eight-day head-to-head stage, and the brain measurements did not significantly differ between the two precursors. That means this stage does not demonstrate that one precursor enters or affects the brain better than the other.

Stage 2 then tested NR only for four weeks in six healthy adults and six people with Parkinson’s disease. In pooled analysis, mean brain NAD rose to 134.55% of baseline after four weeks.
