Midleton Very Rare 2016 — an annual vintage release in Ireland's most prestigious whiskey program, released once per year since 1984. The 2016 edition was assembled from a selection of pot still and grain Irish whiskeys aged between 12 and 33 years at the Midleton Distillery in County Cork, bottled at 40% ABV.
Each Midleton Very Rare vintage is a one-time assembly of casks that peaked specifically that year — the 2016 will never be reproduced. The 2016 was overseen by Master Distiller Brian Nation, who succeeded Barry Crockett. For collectors building a Midleton Very Rare vertical, or for drinkers who want a documented, numbered single-vintage Irish whiskey, each year stands as a distinct expression rather than a repeatable blend.
